Sometimes people need to help themselves before they can attend to others.

It's very probable that your coworker should be the one going to the therapist.

Agreed, and we've mentioned this to her too (as delicately as we can, because she has had a very tough couple of years--she lost her husband just after she found out he was cheating and was on the verge of divorcing him, and then her dad died too), but she just insists she's fine. :/

Only so much you can do to make someone take care of themselves, unfortunately.

On the other hand, I hate to suggest that child protective services might be the solution, but PTSD at a young age can affect someone psychologically for life. It might be worth some consideration if that kind of neglect is really taking place.
