Mulder and Scully, oh I miss the old X-Files.

David and Maddie, now that was a fun ride too.

Sam and Rebecca too, shame about Kirstie Alley being a religious lunatic.

They were the best ships.

Oh yes, Mulder and Scully! I was never in the X-files fandom, though. Only shipped the hard by my lonesome offline.

Where are the other pairings from? I want to say "Cheers" for the last one.

You don't know David and Maddie? It was the ship that supported an entire show, it may even have been the ship that made most people realize that relationships in tv shows were not just for soaps. And by most people I mean it cracked the mainstream big time.

But Sam and Rebecca is Cheers, yes. I liked her much better than Diane. Diane was way too flaky and slapstick, even for Cheers, to take seriously.

I've no idea what show they're from. That can be explained by the fact that I'm in Sweden and I've seldom had access to cable, plus that the networks here got a few foreign series and not right away. At least way back in my youth.

David & Maddie are from the 1985-1989 ABC series Moonlighting.

David Addison (Bruce Willis) and Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd). (They're my icon)

They were kind of like the original "Will they-won't they?" ship and have inspired relationship procedurals like Bones & Castle. That's why you might here discussion surrounding those shows about whether or not they'll fall victim to "Moonlighting syndrome" wherein the show's quality declines as soon as the characters get together because half the fun is the snark where they clearly want to but don't.

It wasn't so much they got together, it was that Cybill Shepherd became a mother and was too tired to keep doing the show, and Bruce Willis did a little movie about thieves taking over a tower block at Christmas and lost interest in the show too.

But yeah, the last season was lackluster. However no television show ever will top it for sheer sizzling on-screen sexuality.

Aw, I did see that series way back when I was a kid, but I don't remember much. Certainly not the characters' names. Moonlighting syndrome is a concept I'm aware of, though. I definitely caught the reference to it in the original TMNT movie.

I found Kirstie Alley so hard to take. She was such a bad actress I kept thinking Rebecca was lying.
