I haven't seen some of this, but it doesn't surprise me. I knew the fandom on tumblr was probably going to be shit in general before it even aired because I saw several character, and shipping speculation post on the tag that were basically "Go to hell cis-het scumbags!"

When did all the harassing creators/staff/castmembers bullshit from fandom explode into a huge thing anyway? That kind of over the top entitled douche canoe has probably always been a part of any fandom, but there seem to be so many more willing to cross the line these days.

When social media like Twitter became big and creators began making themselves more available to fans on it. Joke's on them for thinking they could give their fans a better fandom experience by being willing to chat about their work, I suppose!
