That is pretty shady. Does depend on what industry it's in though.

It's for a legal assistant position. There are other smaller firms also in the same building.

NAYRT: Since it is a legal place it could just be that they don't give out much for privacy reasons. Still weird, though. I would be very careful.

Maybe google legal cases involving that firm?

They may just be super small. I worked for a firm that was called "[Last Name] Lawyers" and only had lawyer, singular. Their software and website were all outdated as hell too. It's an industry where you don't need to advertise and pull in a lot of new clients if you already have corporate accounts or a steady flow of work being outsourced to you from different aid groups that get government money to provide representation to people. We shared a larger office floor with two other firms. Very weird experience coming from a larger firm to that but the money was good.

Trust your instincts. If it feels dodgy, then it's probably dodgy. I wouldn't write it off before you even meet them (in daylight, with people nearby just in case).

I don't think that's shady, just frustrating. Given that you don't have much to go on, I think it's okay to stick to slightly more general questions like "What are your expectations for a legal assistant? What are typical tasks that a legal assistant in your firm would handle? What is the firm culture like?"

And keep your eyes and ears peeled the whole time you're there so you can figure out a bit more about it.
