Re: Have you ever been "THAT" customer?

Oh, probably.

I have food allergies, which means that at some restaurants, I have to make a special order. This inevitably means that sometimes, they get my order wrong, and I have to get it remade. This usually works okay - even if some of them are snippy about it, most of the servers I've dealt with will call for the item to be remade - but I'll occasionally run into someone who'll pull the "just pick it off" routine. Which, after a close call a few years ago, I've taken as a sign that I need to speak to the manager if I want to be sure that my meal will be remade properly. I'm always polite, but I know damn well that the server's going to get a lecture at best, and depending on the restaurant's policy, it's possible they'll be written up. I've worked customer service, and I know that at least once I've been "that bitch who got me in trouble" in someone's eyes.

I so identify with this! We try to be polite when our food is contaminated with an allergen but,on one occasion, we saw our waitress crying afterward as she left the restaurant and it was agonizing. I sincerely hope she didn't get fired (we were there at a shift change) but it still bothers me two years later.
