Holy shit, yes. I recently rewatched Season 4 and I was shocked at how badass and cool Castiel was compared to how he is now. I sort of miss the way he used to be.

Some of the fanfics make him out to be an outright pathetic doormat.

Oh God, yeah. I'm so tired of that. I'm actually a fan of hurt/comfort, but not woobifying. There's a line between a character getting hurt and a character becoming a OOC whining teenage girl.

Off topic, I also hate the fanfics where Sam says "You know what? Dean and Cas love each other. I'm going to make them immediately start having anal gay sex!" Complete with absolutely embarrassing and cringeworthy "get-together fic" shit. And that's coming from someone who likes Dean/Castiel.

ugh, I haaaaaate stories with shipper!sam who only exists in destiel fic to have a border-line unhealthy fixation on ensuring that his brother fucks an angel. it's one thing to have him support the relationship, but it's another to have him bizarrely consumed by the desire to hook them up. just...no. I've also seen it done a lot with charlie, which is more understandable but still annoying to read about.

I mean, I'm sure Sam would be supportive, once he'd gotten over the shock. But the only reaction I could possibly imagine to the notion of them having sex is "Your private life is your business, but under no circumstance to I want details."
