Re: What is your hometown or city famous for?
(Anonymous) 2016-08-26 12:56 am (UTC)(link)-In the 1930s, the Dillinger gang robbed a bank here.
-A local newsanchor disappeared on her way to work early one summer morning in 1995. Her disappearance remains unsolved to this very day, and no trace of her or her remains has ever been found.
-The plane that carried Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens the night of their deadly crash took off from our local airport. Their final concert, as well as the crash itself, happened in the next town over, though.

There's a certain Iowa kind of special chip-on-the-shoulder attitude
We've never been without (that we recall).
And my God, Jodi Huisentruitt. That's a blast from the past.
Re: What is your hometown or city famous for?
(Anonymous) 2016-08-26 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)There's a book about Jodi called "Dead Air". I haven't read it yet, but my mom did, and she said it was a veeeeeeery interesting, and creepy, read.
"20/20" also did an episode about her once. Very odd seeing my town pop up on national TV, especially in that context.
