I know exactly what you mean. Like when it's fic, it's just words, but when there's a living, breathing human doing kinky shit on your screen, it feels so wrong sometimes. I'm not saying people can't do whatever they consensually want, but it defniitely squicks me.

I would say Koontz is a more successfully formulaic writer. King is much more idiosyncratic writer, takes more risks, and I agree, often falls apart in the home stretch. But I've never been scared by a Koontz book. I have been scared by a few King books.

The books are a writhing mass of suck, character-wise. Dottie, you are Super Catholic but our introduction to you is you waiting to STAB A MAN, so...

Of course, TV Dot is exactly as Catholic as the storyline requires her to be. The handling of Hugh's conversion pre-marriage is one fo the few major missteps I think the show made. :-\

aww, I thought he was sweet! And on Bake Off I feel like you can do that kind of home-y baking more: it would have been amazing if he'd made it for his kid's birthday party, and that's the kind of lovely stuff that goes well on that show.
