...lol, so, Sirius was A) insane and B) had some resentment towards Remus... for about ten pages in the first book he appeared in, but for the rest of the series he was not portrayed as either insane or resenting Remus. In fact, they both lived together happily in Sirius's family house, shared opinions and defended each other in arguments, and -- as you say -- bought a joint birthday present.

Why would you buy a joint birthday present with someone you hate?? It's not like all of Harry's adult friends bought him a gift together. Just those two. Which sort of implies that they sat down and talked about it together. Free of any delusional resentment you may have seen carried over from two books ago.
