How ironic and cynical some fans try to play off their interests.

Just because something is guilty pleasure doesn't mean you have to ironically enjoy it. Calling yourself trash is tiring, friend.

Good lord, yes, this. Trying to put on "too cool" airs just sounds exhausting, and people who do that tend to come off rather obnoxious a lot of the time. Just own up to the stuff you like, no matter how goofy or cheesy it is.

As an anime fan, I could do without seeing every other fan post that "Anime was a mistake" Miyazaki macro in response to every slightly stupid gag in a show from the current season.
