That's fair. He was often cast as manchild type characters who flouted authority, and the way the plot was framed it's clear that the audience is supposed to sympathize with Williams' character. But to be honest, I find his humor is only tolerable in small doses and I think in real life very few people would want to be around someone who's perpetually manic and irresponsible.
