I never saw that season, but that makes me sad!

There are certainly American-style pies (even those served at places that claim to be famous for their pie) that consist of too much gelatenous glop and fake whipped cream and are terrible. However, an American-style pie done right, with a tender, crispy crust, is a slice of heaven. Fruit pies heavy on the fruit, pecan pies heavy on the nuts, cream pies that don't go overboard with the gelletin, pumpkin pies, milk bar (AKA "crack") pies... I love them more than cake!
