What tv shows did you start and never finish?

Why?

I never finished Andromeda. I enjoyed the first two seasons, but season 3 was just dull so I gave up on it.

Started Outlander, but the only bits I liked were the sex bits and the torture bits. Everything else was boring, and I didn't care about either of the main characters, so I stopped watchin.

Grimm. I didn't like all the relationship drama.

Peaky Blinders because I was able to figure out that a specific trope that I hate was going to happen.

Stopped watching Marco Polo because I didn't give a shit about any of the characters anymore.

Stopped watching Mr. Robot because the protagonist is so fucking trite and annoying.

Daredevil season 1.

I understand that the fight scenes are technically impressive, but I still found them hella boring.

Grimm, Supernatural, Teen Wolf. I quit watching them when I felt that the quality (and my interest) went downhill, and judging from what I've heard of the later seasons, I made the right decision.

Law and Order: SVU. The main characters turned out to be complete dicks, so it was either quit watching or star rooting for the bad guys.

And plenty of other shows that I've dropped after a few episodes just because I didn't enjoy them that much.

Idk if I can really say "never" since it's only been a couple weeks but I started watching season 2 of unbreakable kimmy schmidt and I thought it was awful

Supernatural and Teen Wolf are the two that come to mind but there's probably plenty of others that just failed to grab me after a few episodes or I got bored a few seasons in.

Oh, Castle, got bored with it during season 5 or 6 I think.

I felt the same way about Supernatural and Doctor Who. I don't know if I just watched a couple of the bad/boring episodes, but they were pretty much "meh" to me.

Re: What tv shows did you start and never finish?

(Anonymous) 2016-08-30 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Almost every show? Even for shows that I completely adore, there's usually at least some episodes that I skip. I'm finicky and I get anxious about stories easily and if an episode isn't really compelling or plot-necessary there's a good chance of me just skipping it. Or if an episode is bad. I don't see any virtue in forcing myself to watch an episode that I'm not going to enjoy.

Outlander, NuBSG, The 100, and various other dull as shit and padded to hell serialized pieces of crap.

I quit Castle for good in season 8 for the same reason I took a break in season 4: Too many secrets and lies.

I quit My Own Worst Enemy because news of its cancellation came before the last couple episodes, and I thought the last one I saw was an excellent act break.

And that's all I can really think of. I may take years-long breaks during some shows (Among them: Supernatural, Criminal Minds, X-Files and Smallville) but I always intend to come back at some point.

Firefly. Bailed after one episode, did not seem a quality show and not surprised it got canned so quickly.

MLPFIM

It just went south after Faust left. Some characterization got butchered. I might watch snippets or recommended episodes here or there but not going to follow it from start to finish anymore.

OH yes this too.

I just lost interest, hated all the gigantic worldbuilding earth shattering nonsense. I did really like the one with Trixie and Starlight Glimmer and no one forgiving them though.

Most of them lmao. Modern Family, Game of Thrones...I don't like live action TV.

Especially anime. Cowboy Bebop, Gatchaman Crowds, skipped like 30 episodes of FMA:B, the one with the manga artist in high school...

Lots of them, generally if/when they started moving away from whatever their hook was and started focusing on the drama/dating.

Criminal Minds I stopped shortly after the episode where Reid got migraines that let him see the future and then there was the really weird fanficcy revisit of Morgan's past episode.

I'm probably a lot more likely to drop a show if it's ongoing and stops holding my interest, if it's finished unless it's really awful I'll likely keep trying.

Sleepy Hollow.

I didn't stop out of dislike or anything. I just kind of stopped watching TV as often around the time I started watching it, and I basically went "Ah, eff it, I'll catch it on Netflix or something" and stopped watching it.

Deadwood, because it seemed to be one long character study and nothing was happening. I didn't want to waste time just watching people swear, be assholes and have sex.

L&O:SVU because it turned into a boring soap opera about the cops instead of a police procedural.

Oh boy, so many.
Spartacus, GoT, Daredevil, Teen Wolf, Supernatural (okay tbf, I only watched a season from the middle of that one), Torchwood, Suits, Big Bang Theory and many many more. It was usually a matter of me running out of fucks to give.

Re: What tv shows did you start and never finish?

Most of them, probably.

There have been a lot of shows that I watched an episode or two and they didn't grab me. Not that they were necessarily bad shows, but they just weren't shows that hit my sweet spot.

NCIS.
Because I eventually just HAD it with the general feeling of "our main characters can kill people and cover things up and generally dance jigs on moral grey areas because they're the GOOD guys and have tragic backstory motivations. Revenge killing is aok. Let's root for them to get away with everything!"

SPN. I bought the DVDs for the first seven seasons, was able to binge-watch the first four, but after the fourth season could not get myself through season 5. I suspect by that point I already knew so much of what would happen in 5 and 6 I just didn't feel a need to watch, and the parts of 7 I really wanted I caught when the fandom was posting downloadable copies of episodes right after they aired in America, so by the time I got the DVDs, I'd watched them (mostly just the last handful of episodes of the season).

I got distracted about halfway into season 8 because of The Hobbit and plunged straight back into LotR at the dwarf end, only surfacing for some Dragon Age.
