SO MUCH THIS! I couldn't believe no one made a damn fruit pie, that was an insane decision. And no one put crust on top of their pies! I was looking forward to see an amazing apple pie but everyone made weird tarts or something?

The key lime pie was the only serviceable one, but it looked a lot different from the key lime pies I'm used to seeing.

That episode was a travesty.

This. How is it an American style pie with no crust on top? Every pie I've had apart from pecan and meringue pies have crust on top. The crust is sometimes the best part. And all those pies looked very flat too. Pies are supposed to be stuffed with tasty things to eat.

It is acceptable for pumpkin and pecan pies to have no top crust, but fruit pies shouls at least have a lattice!

Yes, exactly. A good pie crust is amazing. You have to have it on the top in a fruit pie to have the right balance of pie to filling, especially when you have a nice big pie chock full of goodies.

I actually just made my first pie last week. It was peach and strawberry, and it tasted amazing.

Exactly! No one even attempted like a lattice top on a cherry pie or something, which you know they're capable of bc i've seen them make meat pies with pastry dough decorations on top.

It's like the American descriptor through everyone off. Idgi.

I think key lime and such also usually doesn't have crust on top, but actual fruit pies (that aren't custards) definitely should.

I know, right? Most American fruit pies are double crust, or maybe single crust with a streusel topping. And they're not removed from the pie pan and expected to stand alone, wtf?
