Speaking as someone not American, and in fact speaking as someone who spent a large portion of my formative years being taught (subliminally and overtly) that America was The Enemy...

Maybe find out what a country's patriotic imagery and stories actually represent rather than just making a snap judgement because you don't like that country? Especially with a character that's beloved the world over.
