I just started a horrible period. Woke up at 3:30am because of cramps. :(

Er, do you mean to suggest that when cats roll around on a warm spot in the sun, it's a sexual thing for them? Because OP is comparing their urge to the cat/sunlight thing, which I don't read as sexual, per se.

Crime shows?

What are your favorites?

Would you happen to have any recs for a 50 year old ESL mom to watch with captions?

Given the above, anything old or new is fine, she hasn't watched any in English before.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that those things aren't nice, but... I doubt OP was daydreaming about being Phryne because the things she does are important or worthwhile. They're probably wishing to be Phryne because being a rich stylish lady PI sounds like a shit ton of fun.

My roommates are out this week. My period is about the same as usual, but the experience is still so much better.

This screencap is really unnerving to me for some reason. What's going on here? Is she being assaulted?

Most of my fictional loves to be honest. Some don't have much in the way of fandom (or none that I've found). I agree with the person who mentioned an intersection between what I like and what I feel has a lot of missed potential and, I'd add, untold stories.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you're not as asexual as you think, given that that's a real, live body you want to roll around with. You just haven't personally met somebody who floats your boat, yet.

It's weird, I've been watching Gilmore Girls for the first time and it's finally made me realise how unattractive I find him, even though I've watched 10-odd seasons of Supernatural over the years.

Law and Order (Mothership version only; I find SVU to be too sensational) is the classic, although tragically not available on streaming.

If she likes funnier things, Psych might be up her alley.

I haven't had a period in almost 3 months. I don't miss that pain at all. The Depo shot is a miracle.

Re: Canon but not Fandom?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really. Like... there are plenty of things that I like that don't have fandoms (or have fandoms that are totally orthogonal to what I'm interested in) and I'm fine with that. But I would be interested in fandoms for those things if they existed, or were more in tune with what I cared about.

I think there's a pretty direct relationship between how much I like a thing & how interested I am in fanstuff, honestly. And the specific fanstuff can vary from fandom to fandom - sometimes I want meta, sometimes I want fic - but if I like a thing, I'm usually going to be somewhat interested in more.

I'm excited!

Today is the 6th anniversary of my AO3 membership and the 6th anniversary of the day I posted my first Mad Men fanfic to AO3! The fic I posted today also brings my total word count on AO3 up 300,000 words!

What are you excited about today?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Paddle Boarding

On a public beach, which is why all the pictures.

Criminal Minds is my favorite because I'm way more into the psychology/sociology of crime than I am in forensics. the CM spin-off Beyond Borders has been pretty good so far too.

The original Law and Order is a classic for a reason. Though I'm more interested in the lawyer half than the police half, so the spin-offs are only sometimes enjoyable to me.

I loved Castle right up until the end.

I'm not sure what show would work best with captions. Maybe Law and Order because it moves fairly slowly?

All the superhero shows. Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Agents Of SHIELD. I have some headcanons and stories I like imagining but I have no desire to seek out fic or anything else.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well yes, OBVIOUSLY. But living a little more Phryne-like is something to encourage

Criminal Minds
Foyle's War
Inspector Morse
Endeavour
Lewis
Wallender (BBC has one version, then there's a Swedish version with subtitles)
Inspector Lynley
Law and Order: Criminal Intent

More lighthearted:

Midsomer Murders
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries
Death in Paradise
New Tricks
Partners in Crime

...and on the pedestal, these words appear:
“My name is Supernatural, Fandom of Fandoms:
Look on my kink meme, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Only stans remain. The rest give no fucks.
For that televised Wreck is not at all debonair,
It has outstayed its welcome. It truly sucks.
