I adore their relationship :). So much. It's so bittersweet and touching. That choice of picture further proves how great their relationship is (and it's from one of my favorite episodes, too, so bonus :D).

As for the bit about crime shows delving into characters' personal lives, I personally do like that, myself. I get into shows because of the characters first and foremost, so I like getting to know more about them on a personal level.

Course, this is also the only crime drama I really watch with any sort of regularity (I've seen bits and pieces of others, but I haven't gotten too deeply into them), so that may explain my stance on that topic, too-for those who do watch procedurals in general and who are more interested in the crime side of things, I can see where the characters' personal lives might take a backseat for some of those viewers as a result. And some shows do have a tendency to overdramatize characters' personal lives, too, and I can see where that can be off-putting as well.

+1

That's one of the main reasons that I like Hawaii 5-0 so much even though I don't typically get into procedural shows. The cases on the show don't really stick with me most of the time, but the characters and their relationships with each other do. I feel more or less the same way about Criminal Minds except a lot of the cases do stick with me because they give me nightmares lol

Ha, yeah, they've had some seriously creepy and disturbing unsubs, for sure (Foyet's introduction episode, for instance-I like that episode, but damn, is it fucking unsettling). They have had some very moving and emotional cases, too, though-there's a few cases on that show that have actually brought me to tears.

But yeah, despite all the changes in team members over the years, CM has always had a knack for creating a great chemistry among the characters, and that's one of the big things that got me hooked when I first saw the show, and keeps me watching.

I haven't seen any of the new "Hawaii 5-0", but from what I have heard about it, the characters sound pretty fun and entertaining on there :). Maybe I'll give that one a look sometime. I'm curious to see how it matches up against the original version.
