I've finished binge watching DuckTales, so now I'm starting Darkwing Duck.

I never had right channels to watch any of the Disney Afternoon as a kid, so these are all new to me. I'm liking it a lot, though! Weird family bonds are my fav, especially people learning how to be a family (see too: Leverage), so I'm over the moon.

OMG I loved DuckTales as a kid. Is it on Netflix?

I don't know; I jumped straight to kisscartoon tbh. ^^;

Apparently it's getting a reboot in 2017, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

I don't know how I feel about it having a reboot but I think I should rewatch the original! How does it hold up?

It's not bad? I enjoyed it, and I don't have nostalgia as an excuse! But, I don't know if I'd be able to be objective about it? Since it hit a lot of my emotional kinks (if that's the right term) + I was in a stressful situation.

I liked the first season a lot better then the other ones, though, so if the reboot is following in that style, I think it'll be okay. Scrooge's original VA did apparently pass away earlier this year, though, so that's sad. :(

Have you heard about the music album the guy from Nightwish made?

No, what is this album you speak of? (I had a few old Nightwish albums so this really intrigues me now)

It's called The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, and it is technically based more on the comic book of the same name then the DuckTales incarnation of Scrooge. I still highly recommend it though. It's by Tuomas Holopainen and it can be listened to all the way through here. My favorite songs are The Last Sled (6), A Lifetime of Adventure (9) and Go Slowly Now, Sands of Time (10).

Two of the songs have official videos; A Lifetime of Adventure and The Last Sled.

Tuomas tries to do a Scottish Accent for some of the songs (not for the full song, but some songs have like, an opening narration?) and it's a little bit surprising at first, but if you can get past it, it's gr9 to the point where I actually paid for the album.

thank you for mentioning kisscartoons - I was able to find one of the shows I watched years ago on it! (Granted, it's the movie, but hell, nice quality version of Mutant League? Yeah!)

Darkwing Duck is so strange to watch nowadays. It uses more complicated language and ideas than most modern stuff for kids, but the messages are so simple and the emotional arcs so much less impactful.

I'm not that far in yet- ten episodes in so far lol - but idk, I'm liking it. The Darkwing/Gosalyn/Launchpad trio are hitting all my 'found family' emotional kinks, so I'm down for it. :O

Aw, man, Disney Afternoon was my jam. See if you can squeeze Gargoyles in there! Tons of weird but fiercely loyal family bonds in there.

Oh, man. If you haven't seen it (and can find it), I highly recommend Super DuckTales, an episode from Disney's Wonderful World of Color/Disney, that introduces Fenton Crackshell, the Scrooge accountant who inadvertently becomes the superhero Gizmo-Duck. Of course, I haven't seen it since I was a kid, but I remember it being great.

All I could find quickly though was this intro with Michael Eisner being a big dork. And yet, I really miss the days when, well, Disney's Magical World of... was a thing, first of all, and also Eisner's intros and act-break bits in them.

I think that that was on kisscartoon as season 2? Because I definitely watched the Fenton Crackshell episodes. :D
