(Anonymous) 2016-09-02 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)(I'm watching The Wolf Man at the minute, which is causing a couple of odd moments because 5'6" Claude Rains as the dad and 6'2" Lon Chaney Jr as the kid, though apparently Lon Chaney Sr was only 5'7"-ish as well. It just looks a bit odd.)

(Anonymous) 2016-09-02 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)obviously Larry gets the height from his late mother, ::snicker::
oh! And one more movie recommendation: Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn is Robin Hood). He plays Prince John in that. (This has an epic duel scene between Robin and Sir Guy [aka Sherlock Holmes aka Basil Rathbone])

(Anonymous) 2016-09-03 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)ooh, never saw The Court Jester - any good?
and another swashbuckler rec if you're interested: Scaramouche ('52). Stewart Granger as titular character.
And the most epic sword fight ever - starting here: https://youtu.be/B3X4N0SpF2g?t=3m18s

(Anonymous) 2016-09-03 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)I haven't gotten around to watching the entire movie of Scaramouche, but I've seen the climactic sword fight, because I adore swashbucklers. I wish I knew more about fencing, because from what I've heard that fight is one of the best when it comes to real moves.
I think one of my favourite movie swordfights is this one from Mark of Zorro ('40), because it really looks like Rathbone and Power are honestly trying to kill each other dead:
