I kind of get where you're coming from, except for me it was Harry Potter. Of course, that got popular about a year or so after I first started reading the series, so it's not the 17 or so years between the first Pokemon installment and Pokemon Go.

I got pretty annoyed when people called me a liar when I told them I'd already read it, because the previous school year they had been bullying me for reading it, especially the ones who went on and on how great it was. I really wanted to scream "I KNOOOOOOW!" at them, and smack them about the head.

At least you seem to recognise that it's pointless to act on your frustration over it, even if it is irritating. I hope the bullying didn't end up takinb away all your enjoyment of the franchise, at least.
