Probably the face melting scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Now it's funny as fuck, with those dated special effects.

Most of the scenes with Sharptooth in Land Before Time. But especially the scene where Cera runs up to hit him and he opens his eye.

All of the beasts' rampages, as well as Triton.

Triton scared me more than Ursula.

Jurassic Park. The scene in the kitchen with the Velociraptors. Years of terror.

Junior. It literally gave me nightmares.

Well, okay, just one nightmare, but still.

The damned screaming skeleton in The Last Unicorn. One second he's being creepy and funny, and then the next he has glowing red eyes and is howling bloody murder while everyone flees in terror and a madman with a sword comes charging down the stairs. I think it was just the switch that got me, you know, funny to screaming, but it got me bad.

ET. Any of it, really, but especially his organs glowing through his chest.

Ursula from 'The Little Mermaid' freaked me out pretty good when I was little. Especially when she was all towering and maniacal towards the end. Her death was pretty disturbing, too.

I also remember the stuff involving Judge Doom from 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' scaring me some.

Alien

(Anonymous) 2016-09-03 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
It was on late night (well, that's how I remember it anyway). It's really hard to pick a single scene, but probably the "It's right behind you." with Dallas in the ventilation shafts. The chest-burster scene is right up there, though. And the whole android going berserk scene is also really unnerving.

Was it Jaws 2 where the guy's in the boat and his arm's in the water and then lifts his arm up and it's gone? But yeah, that scene. Part of the reason I can't dangle limbs anywhere, even in my sleep. XD

The guy ripping his face off in Poltergeist, Rev. Kane's creepy face and singing in Poltergeist 2, and all the mirror tricks in Poltergeist 3.

The scene where the Queen in Snow White transformed into a witch terrified me. I couldn't watch it - I had to color my face when the swirling colors started.

There were a couple other movies that I thought were scary with some scary scenes, but that's the one single scene that sticks out, especially in a movie I otherwise loved watching.

Oh ho, these are the TWO movie scenes that scared me the most:

1. The first appearance of the goblins in The Labyrinth
2. The first appearance of Sloth in The Goonies

I watched those movies over and over, but I always had to mentally gird my loins for those moments because they scared the shit out of me every single time.

There were not many scenes that scared me as a kid. In fact, I'd sneak down at night to watch horror movies.

But there were two, kind of similar types of scenes that always scared me. One was the scenes in Young Sherlock Holmes where a girl is wrapped up like a mummy and has hot wax poured on her while she's alive. The other is in these movies involving evil ducks in some sort of universe through mirrors where people are used to make tea.

I have no idea why those two things scared me as a kid, but they did.

The bit in The Black Hole where that guy gets eviscerated. I still haven't forgiven Disney for that.

When Prince Humperdink uses The Machine to kill Westley.

When Chekov falls off... whatever he falls off of in Star Trek IV. You don't see anything and he gets better, but still: CHEKOV! NO!

Fuck The Shining trailer

(Anonymous) 2016-09-03 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'll never see 30 again, and to this day I have never dared to watch The Shining because just the trailer scared the shit out of me--that scene with Jack Nicholson lurching through the hotel corridor to the strains of the Dies Irae from Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.

I've never been able to listen to the Symphonie Fantastique if I'm alone, either.

The halloween movie with the immortal cursed cat that gets run over then slowly inflates, complete with cracking rib sounds.
