I sleep with my window open year round, but it's old and has been painted so many times it's stuck open. I'm fat and I can chin up on it without it budging, so I couldn't shut it if I wanted to. But it's not open wide enough for someone to get in, and if they tried to open it further it would make a shit ton of noise and also probably stick. It's been so hot lately that I also sleep with my sliding glass door open, but since it opens directly onto an enormous thorny climbing rose that is busy trying to eat the whole house, I don't see anyone having a painless time breaking in that way either.
