Whenever people say other people who are "less fortunate" than them are so inspiring.

Just... it's not progressive to say you watched a woman in Africa walking to a well barefoot, thought of your air conditioned SUV and counted your blessings.

Nor is it progressive to tell someone in a wheelchair they're such an inspiration and they make you cry.

You aren't really being empathetic or aware. You're using someone else's life to feel good about yourself. That's gross.

It's probably best to talk as little as possible to or about people who are "less fortunate" than you because no matter your intentions, someone will always think you're being gross.
