Re: What is the worst way you've woken up?
I've had a few incidents of sleep paralysis--didn't know what it was the first time, but kept telling myself I was awake and could move my fingers--after a few minutes, I snapped out of it. Once, though, I woke up in sleep paralysis laying on my stomach and it really felt like someone was in the room with me, sitting on my back. I was starting to get panicky but then my parents showed up--rang the doorbell/knocked on the door and that woke me all the way up.
When I lived at home in my early 20s my mum hated waking me up--because every time she did, I'd startle quite badly. I live with my sister now and she doesn't have much occasion to wake me and I still sorta wake up with a "what?" but not to the same panicky extent as when I was younger.
ETA: In high school, my grade 11 economics teacher was incredibly boring and talked in a monotone--seriously, I hardly remember anything about that class. Except the day I was thisclose to falling asleep and the goddamn fire alarm went off--almost had to peel me off the ceiling. The guy sitting behind me laughed his ass off as we left the building. (Can't blame, I would've if the situation had been reversed.)
Re: What is the worst way you've woken up?
I also used to startle awake really badly. Not so much now, but for a while there I would always wake in a panic.
