A car.

Early Christmas morning one year, I was sleeping on an air mattress on the floor in the living room of my parents' apartment when I was awoken by a loud crash. It sounded to me like it had come from my parents bedroom, so I went down the hall to be met by my sister rushing out of her bedroom to the living room because she had heard crash and thought it came from outside. I followed her to the front door, but we couldn't get it open. We went out the side sliding door and came around the front to find a car had crashed into the apartment and broken through the cinderblock wall about a foot into my parents' bedroom. The car was still running, but empty, the driver's side door open. The front axle was hung up on a big decorative rock on the landscaping. The force of the crash knocked the front wall of kilter which is what jammed the front door shut. Everyone was fine, my parents had cinderblock dust in their hair and my dad had a scratch from a shard (the headboard was against the front wall). Given the way it was angled and the force with which it hit, without that rock, it very well might have come through the living room, which would have been a worse way to wake up.

Holy crap. that must have been horrifying for your parents. Did they find the owner of the car?

Yes, the police found the guy, a drunk driver. The apartment was close the road with a curve it in, the road curved, the driver didn't.
