Exactly. Sometimes it's nice to see others' interpretations of a favorite pairing, or a topic that's ripe for story ideas, or whatever.
I love your suggestions about how those who struggle to write can request the fic they want to see. I fully agree that kind of active participation and encouragement can be very helpful. Even if it doesn't produce a wealth of fic, at the very least, it can allow for more fans of a particular niche to come out of hiding and bond over something they like :).

But purely on the advice giving front, "have you tried organizing a rarepair post? Maybe there are others who are interested in it too, you can at least find like minds" is a lot more helpful and encouraging than "write it yourself!"
