Exactly. As a writer those are the things that make me want to write fic of the type people want. If someone is showing interest in a plot bunny or starting up the discussion with meta or shipping talk, it's much easier for me to hop on board and piggyback on their enthusiasm and start generating ideas, than with "I wish there were more fic of X."

I don't hold anything against people who wish for fic. There are fic types I wish for too. But purely on the advice giving front, "have you tried organizing a rarepair post? Maybe there are others who are interested in it too, you can at least find like minds" is a lot more helpful and encouraging than "write it yourself!"
