Packing!

I'm going on a trip and usually I pack far in advance (at least a day or two, sometimes a week). Not this time. I'm scrambling to get everything in order before I go now.

What's your packing style? Are you super organized? (I make lists so I don't forget anything) Or do you just throw everything together and hope for the best?

My packing style is pretty much just stuffing things into my suitcase an hour before leaving.

I tend to pack clothes a few days before and have my toiletries in the bag but still in my bathroom until it's time to leave.

Me too. I need the lists so I don't forget anything, but the night before is the best for packing. Otherwise, I'll think "did I pack that shirt or the other one?" or I'll wander around the house wandering where "that thing" is, because I've already packed it.

Works best for me to pack close to the departure date.

On the evening before I am to leave, I will grab practically every piece of clothing I wear at least semi-regularly, pile them up next to my suitcase, and start going through them, folding and packing. Then I end up shoving things like toiletries, spare shoes and other bits and pieces I want to take in around the edges and top it all off with my towels and have to practically sit on the suitcase to get it zipped up. Carry-on luggage ends up full of all sorts of junk including tablet, 3DS, power cords, hair brush, notepads and whatever else I desperately feel a need to take (like my current pet favourite Lego figures - yes I took Boromir and Kili to New Zealand with me).

My packing style is "I'm leaving tomorrow and haven't even looked at my bags yet, let alone laid out clothes or anything". I know what I need to find so I can pack it, but eh, I can throw it all in there in the morning.

I am both very organized and a great packer. I can fit lots of things tightly into small spaces. I can pack everything so nothing breaks.
When I moved to the US, the only thing that broke - and even that is very minor - was one of the handles on my wooden closet-shaped jewelry box. I also kind of enjoy it, in a slightly obsessive-compulsive sort of way XD

I am very much the latter. I'm not very well put together in general. I, too, have an impromptu upcoming trip that I need to pack for and have thus far made no effort to do so.

I make lists and pack light so I have plenty of room for souvenirs. I roll everything as small as I can and fill every available nook and cranny.

Depends on the kind of trip. I go on work trips so often, I only make lists if it's a long trip or I need unusual things. Otherwise, I'm just assembling the standard stuff the day/night before. I keep it all organized so I know where to find everything.

With trips for fun, I make a list a week in advance so I can figure out what laundry needs to get done and whether I need to buy anything. I start the actual packing at least two days in advance, if I can.
