I think we essentially agree. My point is that I so often see the disabilities conversation entirely overtaken by mental illness conversation, when I think they really do need to be separated, both because the latter shouldn't dominate/drown out the former, and because while they overlap they are not the same discussion. My mental and physical illnesses are problematic in very different ways in my life; they effect each other, but they're not in the same category. Etc etc

I find the line between mental and physical illnesses to be a bit artificial sometimes. My anxiety has been really bad for the last several hours and it's every bit as physical as my other problems. My chest hurts, it's doing bad things to my blood pressure and my stomach, my knees are shaking just as much as when their own problems are acting up, my muscles ache from the tension I can't relax. Sometimes the line that people insist on drawing to separate it from my other problems just feels like a denial of how strong and pervasive the effects are.

I do know what you mean about certain issues dominating the discussions online and I agree that it can be a problem. This is just a really bad night for me to hear it.
