Re: Things you think the world would be better off without

I'm glad to hear these discussions are occurring in real life and are productive and sensitive to Mulims in Western countries. I suppose I'm admittedly jaded on the topic due to the alt-prog sentiments I've seen on FS and ONTD and various news media comment sections. To be fair, there's too much genuine alt-right racism out there, too, so I can understand the kneejerk reaction from alt-progs. But it does alienate well-meaning liberals who can't understand why legitimate criticism is seemingly not allowed. Probably best to avoid internet discussions of it altogether.

There's a popular sentiment that I think everyone should adopt: never, ever listen to anyone on the internet. I absolutely understand where you're coming from-- there are no shades of grey when you're not face-to-face, and it's easy for people to get into echo chambers that just confirm and validate their own black-and-white views. I'd get jaded too.

I do genuinely encourage you to seek out active, real conversations on the subject in real life, though. You might be heartened to realize how little of the internet really does spill out.
