I find this annoying in the same way I find people who ridicule others who discovered they're depressed through a comic or discovered they're gay through a TV show is annoying. Who cares what it was? What the thing was that set things in motion doesn't make their discovery any less legit.

yep. It's like if someone tells anyone about their journey (rather than just "I've always known," which some people don't accept either), there's something to mock there. Just...idk, people shoudl shut up sometimes if htey don't understand something. (I admit I'm sometimes one of those people who doesn't get it.)

I knew someone who only figured out they were gay after roleplaying fandom stuff and was embarrassed of telling anyone because the first few people they told, laughed at the idea of someone figuring it out from roleplay. :\ I figure it's the same.

I should add it fit the dumb fandom stereotypes, too. "Lol lesbian figures out she's a lesbian by falling in love with her RP partner I bet she's not really gay" that BS
