Re: It's college football season...

I pay a lot of attention to baseball and basketball (mostly NBA, not college). They're great sports and I really enjoy following them. I sort of half-pay attention to a bunch of other sports - college basketball, soccer, tennis, boxing, cricket, stuff like that. They're sort of in the category where I like them, but I don't have any team that I'm a fan of and I don't care enough to really keep up with them on a day to day basis.

With football specifically, I used to be a big NFL fan and I've pretty much cut myself off entirely from paying attention to it. Partly because of the awfulness of the league and the sport, partly because I stopped enjoying the sport as much, partly because the way it was covered and the 24/7/365 all NFL controversy all the time crap really got on my nerves. So I really actively try to ignore it at this point. I don't mind college football as much, and I can appreciate the routine and the fandom, but I still don't watch it routinely (in part because the school that I went to was D3, if I'm being honest).
