I think it's funny because everything he says comes off like he thinks he's the smartest person in the room and has some master plan to outwit everyone with some extreme linguistic judo. It feels like you can see him doing it and everything he says comes across like an attempt at doing it.

Oh, right enough, he was arrogant as hell like that in the Rubin interview. He also broke down some of the election campaign rhetoric using his research in persuasion, though, and that was pretty interesting. I won't totally discredit the power of the right rhetoric to persuade.
