I guess it's about overlapping with other people, and the company has an unpleasant policy of giving parents preferential treatment in getting leave.

Honestly, I don't know how quickly I can get a job. then again, this job exhausts me so much mentally I can't really look for anything else while doing it.

Is that something you could take up with HR? Like - look what they're doing here, can we insist on my leave?

Or, conversely - do you have sick days? Take them all and try putting out some resumes while you're 'recovering'.

I"m all for the idea of getting away from a place that fucks with your sense of well-being, but not if it puts you at risk re: housing/medication/food. If you're good at your job and there's a demand for what you do and you don't think you'd be unemployed for months and months....go for it.

Sick days don't quite work like that here - like, you don't have a supply of them, you get them if you get a doctor writing a note you're sick.

I work through a temp agency, so I guess I'd have to take it up with them.

re: food/shelter - I should have enough to go on for about 3-4 months, and my parents would supply that, though I dislike putting additional strain on them.

I don't currently work in my original field, I'm decent at the job I do, but I do not want to continue in that line of work, so it's sort of a moot point.

Ah. Same for me, re: sick days, which irritate the fuck out of me. Even if i have a 'doctor's note' (what am I, five?), we don't get paid for it. If i'm too sick to work i'm...too sick to work. I hate how...*paternalistic* it all is.

I know i'm just throwing things at you in the hopes it might help to put it out there 'out loud' so to speak, so i hope I haven't muddled it up or made you feel worse. Good luck, bb, whatever you decide.

Nah, you haven't muddled anything, honestly I WANT to quit, but money is an issue.
