[Star Trek: The Next Generation]

Hell yeah, that's why TNG is my favorite Star Trek. I have a hair trigger when it comes to any sort of preaching or moralizing, but TNG never felt that way to me.

+1

TNG had some moments of being too preachy, but a lot of the time it just really worked well with the setting and the characters and I love it for that.

Completely agree. I loved this show as a kid.

Picard is like human conscience, only better.

I over-all agree with you, though I think the first season and at least some of the second were a bit hamfisted in how they did it. The series really found it's stride by the third season, but the first two were still entertaining enough to give it time to find that stride.

I don't watch Star Trek, but I also like it when there is a moral/lesson to be learned from a story as long as it's done well and isn't obnoxious or ham-fisted or straw-mannish. Every story has a message of some kind, some are just more direct about it than others.

Picard could preach to me any day.

Oh man, Picard's little bit of wisdom there is exactly what I needed to hear after the day I've had.

I'm not active in the Star Trek fandom. Is this something people complain about?

Definitely one of my favourite things about the show! Especially watching it as a kid
