Book club - October poll CLOSED; planning September discussion

[personal profile] diet_poison 2016-09-12 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Poll is closed! The winner is Dracula by Bram Stoker!

For September, we are still reading Graceling by Kristen Cashore! Please let me know what your preference is for a discussion date! I am willing to try a Sunday this time (it would be October 2), or do a week day the preceding week. Which do you prefer? Let's maximize the number of people who will be able to participate in discussion!

Yay for Dracula!

I vote Saturday for the September discussion. I usually can only participate on weekends because the post goes up earlier. During the week it usually goes up in the middle of the night for me.

Oh sorry I meant Sunday and you probably figured that out but I just feel stupid for putting Saturday.

oh lol I was gonna ask for clarification! Sunday is fine, but Saturdays are a no-go for me!

I'll chalk one vote up for Sunday then.

It's public domain, so you ought to be able to get it free somewhere.

I'm not involved in the book club, but from what I gather membership is exclusively limited to whoever shows up to discussion

lol, I guess you could say that's each month's membership xD

(but I must stress that it's super informal - there's no dues or signups or anything, you just read and come and talk about the book, and hopefully make recs/vote in poll/give feedback; no requisites required for any of these things except please don't be a dick)

Sunday is Monday for me 😰

Saturday I can do I'll just be a bit late. I think, dog school might not be on my Sunday that week cause it's a long weekend.

I'm already writing my impressions 😏 Half way through book!

It goes up at 7PM Eastern on weeknights, 4PM on weekends. Not sure what that translates to for you.

This is weekend anon. I'm totally cool with staying up late or even missing out the discussion if I can't stay up on a weekday. IIRC, caerbannog was the one who ran the awesome campaign to get it elected so unless there are tons of people who require a Sunday discussion, I think it only right to schedule the discussion around caerbannog's calendar.

That's one of the upsides of picking such an old book -- it's likely in public domain. :)
