Autism parents who parade their autistic child's embarrassing moments on the internet to get pity.

Autism parents who don't listen to autistic people for advice on why their kid is behaving a certain way.

Autism parents who sing the praises of Autism Speaks and don't research why it's actually a horrible organization.

Antivaxxers are at the top of my shitlist.

Especially antivaxxers who refer to autistic people as vaccine injured. (This pisses me off more than anything.)

Oh! Sorry. Yeah, I agree. I mean, I get that it can be very challenging in some situations, but sometimes the things they say really make me cringe. Especially when parents don't seem to actually understand autism. ("My child is locked in a world I can't get to." No, they're stimming... how do they not know what stimming is if they claim to have read every book on autism imaginable?)

Yeah.

I hate seeing all the stuff they say about autistic people. Especially when they try to paint their autistic kids as suffering just by being autistic.

And a lot of these people's misunderstandings can be bad for the kids when they try to do something because of the automatic assumption that every "autistic" thing they do means they're suffering and they (the parent) must make them STOP.

Stimming stuff like tapping my fingers together or swaying in my office chair are comforting. When I'm prevented from doing them I get anxious like an itch inside me and THEN I'm suffering.

Anti-vaxxers bypass obnoxious for me and go straight into awful.

Yeah, I was thinking, that sounds like the wrong category.

Though I will specify that some of them also fit into "obnoxious" by being really preachy and condescending about it (I was on a vaccine debate thread just earlier today on Facebook...)

Why should an autistic person who has never even met my son automatically know more about him than I do, who has lived with him day and night for 25 years? Autistic people aren't all the same. I'll listen, because it's polite, but in my - and his, he can speak for himself - experience they've mostly been dead wrong, because they talk of *their* experience of autism, not his.
