I've seen this a few times with people who treat being on the autism spectrum as an essential part of their identity. They take no blame for offending other people, because they can't help it if they're bad at reading social situations, but heaven help you if you say something that offends them. It's a weird sort of self-ablism--"because I'm bad at talking to people, I have no hope of ever getting better at it, so I should just give up trying."
