So last year we had Dope and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl come out on the same day, and while I saw Dope and thought it pretty good, I really adored the latter one when I saw it this year.

Someone telling a young kid 'No one likes your damn cynicism' and having him get over it to help his friend.

Beasts of No Nation....but not in a good way, understandably. Still can't believe it wasn't nominated for any Oscars (it was released in eligible theaters in Los Angeles county) and one excuse I heard was that "It was too hard to watch."

You know what else wasn't a walk in the park that got best picture and best actress nominations? Room.

OMG Me and Earl and the Dying Girl! I wish it had been promoted more! I don't think I had ever laughed that much during the first hour and it was a real struggle to hold back tears during the last bit.

It was cast so well. Meanwhile, I couldn't get through the book.
