I am gonna have to seriously agree. Unless this person has a genuine Axis I/II personality disorder, she can overcome her shit.

When are people going to get over their entitlement complexes regarding relationships? Christ.

I was borderline APD about three years ago, and had been socially anxious most of my life. There are still things I have trouble doing, such as carrying on a phone conversation, and when I'm stressed out, the first thing I do to calm down is limit my direct interaction with people because it's one of the few sources of stress I can voluntarily cut.

But it's not impossible to manage. I'm fairly functional, I have more friends now, both on and offline than I ever thought I could, and I have a girlfriend. Most of that is due to making the effort on my part to stay in touch with people, and be confident that I won't screw things up just by existing.

It's no picnic, but it can be done. Believing you can't overcome it is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Oh man, for a second I read that as "Borderline Personality Disorder" and was like GJDSHGSDHFS but I gotcha. When I say personality disorders, I mean the really bad shit that you actually can't be cured of like that one.

I'm glad at least some people like yourself have the strength (and even bother at all) to attempt to conquer their problems. I have a whole lot of physical issues myself, and it sucks, but humans are strong and built to overcome adversity.

People like the OP just piss me off.

Oh dear XD As one of my friends put it, "Avoidant Personality Disorder is Social Anxiety's cousin with the nose-ring and tattoos."

That attitude drives me batty, because at its core is a fatalist resignation that "there's nothing I can do, this is just the way I am and other people have to accept me." Which burns me up because it's a selfish, hindering, and grossly entitled way of looking at things.
