I liked their relationship itself (at least, what we got to see of it), 'cause I thought they were rather cute together.

But yeah, I wish they'd let her live and explore the idea of them being a couple and whatnot on the show. I like Reid and I agree that it'd nice to see him actually have something good happen in his life for once, and be happy.

I'm with you OP. I really didn't like that entire story line and agree it was simply a way to give Reid more angst (like he doesn't already have enough!). The perfect 'killing the woman to give the man more angst'. Sigh...

I agree, it sucked they made and killed her just to make him ~feel things~. It's like they can't figure out another way to make an uptight academic learn how to feel feelings, it always has to be distress.

I do like how he plays "fucked up", though.

Reid is honestly the only CM character who I don't care about at all. Not even sure why, but I'm never interested in any of his storylines and he's just really meh to me as a character. So I didn't really care one way or another about this storyline.

IA. The first moment we learned about their 'relationship', I knew it wouldn't last. I remember thinking 'oh sweetie, don't you know what show you're on'. I never even really bothered thinking of her as a character, I just saw her as a plotline really. I ship Reid with someone else, so I'm glad the whole thing was over relatively quickly, but objectively speaking it would have been more interesting to see him in an actual relationship.

On that note, something odd I've noticed is that fans complain all the time about how the show never gives Reid any happy storylines, and they're all, "Why can't something GOOD happen to him for once? Why can't he find a nice girl and settle down?"

But then I'll read fanfic...and I swear some of the stuff some of those same fans who make the above complaints put him through in stories makes what he goes through on the show seem pretty tame by comparison. They whump the HELL out of him in fanfic, and those kinds of stories wind up being really popular and having lots of readers. And any stories involving him in a romance with an OC, they often put her in the same kind of danger the women Reid's had brief flirtations on the show have been through.

It just strikes me rather funny and strange.
