Because most people probably don't have lots of followers so they get e-mail notifications of a new follower they check out their blog to see if they want to follow back. The problem is 90% of the time it's a porn blog.

This. I have ~100 followers and about 75% of the time Tumblr sends me an email when I get a new one. And 90% of the time it's a porn blog.

I just kind of assumed most people get more followers than me. I felt like I had a lot when I had 7 because I never expected anyone to follow me. So I guess my thinking was that if even I can't be bothered to look at each person who follows me then...
