I always figured it was the other way around - a lot of villains in very popular media with a lot of shippers are modeled after Nazis - like it's been said above, Hydra, First Order and the Death Eaters are all inspired by Nazis, and manga/anime is full of fictional Nazis, too. So it's not like people are cherry-picking those, the archetype is just really big. Maybe writers/creators should try branching out with what they base their villains on.
