Re: Which film genre do you think needs a huge revival?

In the 90's, there were a lot of female buddy films. I want more of those, and not ones like Bridesmaids which pose themselves as female buddy films, but really aren't.

What do you have in mind when you say that those movies aren't really buddy movies?

(I'm not disagreeing, just curious about what the line is)

AYRT - Well, because to me, there really wasn't much... buddy-ness in that film, except with the hints of potential friendship. If anything, it seemed to be more about drifting from friends once they're engaged/married and you're still single.

The First Wives Club is my shit

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Green Fried Tomatoes, Girl Interrupted, Spice World and The Witches of Eastwick are also <3 <3

I feel like it's been going ok since then? (Banger Sisters, Uptown Girls, Girlhood, The Heat, The House Bunny, Miss Congeniality, Charlie's Angels, Chocolate, Bend It Like Beckham... and idk if Spy counts?)
but hell yeah, could definitely use a revival

if you're a fan of FabAb, I recommend the movie they just did this year! it wasn't perfect but imo FabAb fans will love it

Does the Craft count? Because I thought it was good.

Didn't that come out like 20 years ago?

Yeah, I thought it counted as a girl buddy movie and if you look at the thread header, you'll get where I'm getting at.

I'm not sure it counts as "buddy", more as teen drama.

I think Now and Then is a great movie of this where we show them as children and then all of them grown up as well, showing their friendship surviving everything.
