Re: Which film genre do you think needs a huge revival?

Fantasy. Can we please have some epic fantasy movies that are actually good? And not necessarily Game of Thrones style "realistic" fantasy. I want full on fantasy.

Classic original scifi blockbusters and also B-movies.

Vampire movies/werewolf movies. Enough zombies, lets go back to werewolves and vampires.

Movies in the style of classic Disney animation, but more about badass women and with women who look different and not just cookie cutter.

Yes to all of this.

With magic in them. I feel like good wizard magic has more or less disappeared, and I lay at least part of the blame for that on Harry Potter.

I want a bit more of the magic that was in Warcaft in movies again.

Warcraft was awesome, I don't care what anyone says. I'm going to buy it when it finally comes out on DVD. And yes, more magic please. Isn't that part of the fun of fantasy? I mean, Tolkien's magic is very different from stereotypical magic. But honestly I love it all. GIve me all the magic.

I loved it too, it felt like something of a return to epic fantasy again. I will likely buy it as well.

Tolkien was kinda an Unbuilt Trope for magic, as a lot of the image for fantasy magic comes more from Dungeons and Dragons, which itself started out very derivative of Tolkien. But I like Tolkien magic, and I also like D&D magic (which Warcraft is far more like, probably because Warcraft, like D&D, started as a game).
