As I mentioned in Herpy's sub-thread, that was not the only movie I could not understand lines until I heard them as an adult.

Though I only read Good Omens after I'd read the book of The Neverending Story, which means I at least got all the references in Pepper's full name.

It never occured to me Pepper wpuld be named after the Neverending Story chatacter. He mom was a hippie and I thought including "Moon Child" in Pepper's name was just a hippie thing (and people legit named their kids after Tolkien characters in the 70s - one of my mom's friends named her daughter Arwen).

Now that I think about it though, the timing is a little wonky. Pepper would have had to have been born in 1979, which is when The Neverending Story was first published... in German.

I suspect that with Pratchett and Gaiman that the Moonchild name is probably more due to this book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonchild_(novel)
