I'm reading Parrot and Olivier in America, although I've barely started it. I really like the other Peter Carey stuff I've read before-- Oscar & Lucinda (SEE ICON! <3) and some seriously weird short fiction. This is very different. I've very impressed that he can write like the speakers of two languages when he switches POV. Olivier's sentence structures are so complex; very French. But they're also a little tiresome so far, so now that I'm into Parrot's first section, it's refreshing to have something uncomplicated.
