I'm still trying to figure out how so many people got Gyraidoses (whatever the hell the spelling is) so quickly. I have a gym near my house and I swear there were people with those things within a week of the game release -- and this was back in the time it wouldn't load 60% of the time.

It gets even weirder because we're like 15 miles inland and the only way to a MagiCarp is by the beach, afaik.

Jane Russell is amazing in that film, I agree. But honestly what I hate about the reception of this film is how much it's used to talk about what a huge sex symbol Marilyn was. She gives a genuinely excellent performance as a comic actress, but all anyone talks about is that pink dress and the one song.

(Seriously, "That'll take an hour and forty minutes". Cracks my shit up every time.)

I couldn't care less what Fforde thinks. Frankly, his Thursday Next books aren't very good. Nursery Crime is good and Shades of Grey is one of the best books I've ever read, but Thursday Next? Meh. She doesn't come across as a believable woman.

Never be a scientist or science teacher in a small town. You will die first.

Seriously, I think it was Gremlins and The Faculty that I watched fairly soon after each other and noticed the science teacher bites it in both (I think?) and wondered, did these screenwriters really hate high school science that much? It's weird, because it doesn't fit the "teens who have sex will die" trope or the "people who were mean to the main characters will die" trope or the "people who don't believe anything bad is happening will die" trope, since if they're not an evil scientist villain, the scientist characters are usually trying to help.
