It's amusing enough but watching it with 2016 eyes--the JGL character is such a fucking Nice Guy. HE obsesses over her at first sight (which makes him as shallow as he later accuses her of being), HE fakes knowing French just to be able to talk to her (so, he tries to manipulate her)--he does all of these antics to "set her free" and then gets so pissy because she chooses someone else. Bianca's a great character (and Kat and Patrick are great as well) but I can't stand Cameron.

Late millennium movies are something else. Watching American Pie nowadays--the shit they pull with Nadia, taping her and broadcasting it HAHAHAHA JUST TEENAGE BOY SEX HIJINKS--makes my skin crawl.

It's backwash from "The Taming of the Shrew," I think - they work hard to get around the weird misogyny that's all over the play, but it's so baked into the premise that it still shows up.
