Anybody else still play Skyrim?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-20 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I've gotten back into it lately, at least in part because I found a bunch of new mods to play with. I have gone through about eight characters over the past week.

I just played through it earlier this year using Frostfall. I had fun -- it's about the only Elder Scrolls game I like.

Same. Tbh I'd never heard of Elder Scrolls until Skyrim because I'm not really a gamer at all. I wanted to go back and play the earlier ones but I saw some vids and they just aren't for me. And I hated ESO :(

Yes! But I play on console so no mods :( I'm taking a break until the special edition comes out. I think I'll be a female Argonian, but usually I'm Kajhiit because even though I thought cat people were silly when I first played, Maiq the Liar changed my mind the instant he opened his mouth and insulted me.
I love making a new build and often don't get more than halfway through the main quest line before making a new one. The only thing I don't love is getting overburdened by two steel ingots and 50 carrots and so needing to bring Lydia along so she can push me off high walkways and block every doorway in Tamriel.

I am a female Argonian! <3333 do it

Maiq is awesome.

I use a carryweight mod but I guess that's not option on console :(

Not touching it again until the Remaster comes out.

Even then, I'm getting the Xbox One version. Because mods. Sorry Sony's gotta be douchecanoes, PS4 owners.

Has Microsoft confirmed they will allow user generated miss hosted on their servers for distribution? Because that's the only thing Sony isn't allowing. They will have the Bethesda generated/vetted mods and it won't be a week before the forums are overflowing with user generated mods and how to load them externally. Which is what Microsoft originally planned to do, too.

I tend to take annual "vacations" to the land of Skyrim. :D I haven't in awhile, maybe I'm due?

I swear, I must've put 500 hours into that game total on several files, but I've never beaten it. lol what storyline, I'm too busy RAISING MY FAMILY.

I'm waiting for the remaster to come out (and break all my mods). I'm replaying the whole series in anticipation. Doing Morrowind right now, Oblivion once that's done.

You're more hardcore than me, I don't like any of the pre-Skyrim ES games.

Haha, Skyrim is definitely my favorite, but I really love Morrowind and Oblivion too in their own ways.

I love how hostile Morrowind is, with the outlandishly racist Dunmer, murderous daedra worshippers, creepy blighted creatures, cliff racers around every corner. And I love how genteel Cyrodiil seems in Oblivion, hiding it's depth underneath a veneer of fluffy fantasy./

I'd probably like Morrowind more if it wasn't just such a nightmare to play. I'd like to actually hit things I swing a sword at without a dice roll getting in the way, thanks. The setting was unique for fantasy (and TES is kind of a weird hodge-podge of various fantasy tropes anyway)

Oblivion was more playable, but I found it to be kind of bland slurry in terms of visuals and overall vibe -- borrowed too much from Lord of the Rings. Skyrim I think nailed what I was looking for out of the series.

Aw, that's why they invented mods! I'm pretty sure there's all kinds of combat overhauls for MW. It is a bit nightmarish, though. Especially leveling. D:

Oblivion is hilariously bland, but I really love some of the questlines so I suffer through. Plus, my Oblivion Altmer mage is also my Skyrim Altmer Stormcloak, so it adds some personal continuity.

As a Khajiit player, Morrowind bugs me...the inability to wear most boots or helmets might be realistic, but it's highly inconvenient.

Lol I have so many hours on that game and I still haven't beaten it. I'm halfway maybe? through the main plot. ALL THE SIDEQUESTS, ALL OF THEM

I still go back to it periodically. It's such a beautiful and immersive game. <3

Hmm I haven't played it recently. Most times I play it is just modding the hell out of it then taking screenshots.

Since installing my dog in the game I'm worried she'll die so I don't play. Even though I made her immortal.

Hell, I play it almost every day. I have it on PC, so I've got over 300 mods and I'm always trying out new ones. My current character, Acacia, is a redheaded wood elf druid who's in all of the guilds, plays the lute and has five dogs, four daughters and a herd of appaloosa horses. And also a giant rideable wolf. She's eventually gonna marry Aela and they're gonna be awesome werewolf lesbians forever.

Anyway, I really like using Skyrim and Oblivion to develop characters that I use in my original stories. I'm thinking of writing a series with all of my favorites in an urban fantasy setting where they form a sort of lesbian mafia that's mostly devoted to killing/robbing other bad guys for fun, profit and their own sense of justice.

I keep wondering if I should play it but open world games are just not for me. I also think the 3rd person view is kinda weird, but 1st person view gives me incredible motion sickness in most cases, so that's not ideal either.

I just recently started a new game, using the Live Another Life mod to start in the Thieves Guild. (LAL apparently updated recently, so that starting as a Thief isn't as deadly as it was last time I tried it...that stupid jerk right outside the Flagon starts off dead.) Here's a screeny of my current character, M'Raya.

My next character (after finishing all the Thief content) will probably be a guard in a Khajiit caravan.

I actually just finished my achievement list a month or so ago (again, thanks to LAL, letting me start as a vampire, thus making the Vamp perks easier to get started on).

She's pretty! I love the eyepatch. Live Another Life is one of my favorite mods. So many possibilities!

Eyepatches are awesome (it's from Immersive Armors...I'm 99.99% sure, anyway)...I think the only character who hasn't worn one since I started using the mod was the Dunmer I started a couple characters ago, because it wouldn't sit right with her brow ridges. M'Raya started wearing it after [spoiler] attempted to kill her in the Thieves Guild questline (figure she might have been injured in the whole shootstab issue)...mostly they wear them as soon as I can make one and I pretend they were wearing them from the start. (I might cheat one into my inventory during the life-selection section on my next character.)

I love Skyrim, but I haven't played in (checks Steam) months and months, because I've been replaying Morrowind (does it count as a replay if I never finished it the first time around?). Also because my game encountered an insta-crash bug in the middle of a questline. :( :( :(
I love how easy it is to mod Skyrim, and how many mods there are, and how much variation there is. It's great.
